We must balance the budget without raising taxes. We must stop the federal government from continuing to trample on our liberty. We must secure our elections from fraud. We must cut taxes on homeowners and businesses to increase personal freedom and encourage the free market. We must secure our border to guard against illegal immigration. We have a lot of work ahead of us and our Pledge with Texans serves as a foundation for our long-term goals for Texas.

By signing to the Pledge with Texans, legislators promise to support the following:

Balance the Budget without Raising Taxes - I pledge to advance, support, and vote for legislation that balances the state budget without raising taxes. I pledge to advance, support, and vote for legislation that creates a stricter spending limit in the Texas Constitution to slow the growth of the state budget.

Limit Federal Intrusion - I pledge to advance, support, and vote for legislation that reasserts the limited role of the federal government and those rights guaranteed to Texas under the United States Constitution as codified in the Tenth Amendment. I pledge to reject new federal funds with strings attached as an enticement to create new programs. I pledge to advance, support, and vote for health care freedom legislation that guarantees the right of Texans to make their own health care choices. I pledge to support a balanced budget amendment to the U.S. Constitution that would apply in the absence of a national emergency.

Improve Election Integrity - I pledge to advance, support, and vote for legislation that requires a secure, government-issued photo identification to be presented before voting. I pledge to advance, support, and vote for legislation that improves the security of mail-in ballots.

Cut Taxes - I pledge to advance, support, and vote for legislation to increase personal freedom and encourage the free market by lowering taxes. I pledge to advance, support, and vote for legislation that reforms and reduces property taxes and property tax appraisals. I pledge to advance, support, and vote for legislation that cuts business tax rates, lowers businesses' tax burden, increases competition in all areas of the economy, and encourages private sector job growth.

Secure the Texas Border - I pledge to advance, support, and vote for legislation that lawfully protects Texas and Texans from the fiscal and social costs of illegal immigration.

Every item in the Pledge is rooted in the TCC principles of limited government, free enterprise, individual liberty, and traditional values. Legislators, united by these principles, have signed the Pledge and promise to support legislation promoting each of the tenets of the Pledge with Texans.
