Dan Branch

State Representative Dan Branch serves as a member of the Texas House of Representatives from Dallas representing District 108.  Elected in 2002, as a Republican, he represents downtown, uptown, north and east Dallas, as well as the Town of Highland Park and the City of University Park. 

In 2006, Branch was one of the primary authors of the school finance reform and property tax reduction legislation signed into law by Governor Perry. In 2007, he was a joint author of HB 2 - the largest property tax cut in the history of Texas. 

A graduate of the SMU School of Law and the Institute on Comparative Political & Economic Systems at Georgetown University, he holds two undergraduate degrees from Oklahoma Christian University, graduating summa cum laude in 1980.  Dan and his wife, Stacey, have five children and reside in Dallas.

HJR 16 - Pledge with Texans Bill

Franchise taxes are harmful to businesses and should not be arbitrarily raised.  HJR 16 proposes a constitution amendment requiring any increase in the franchise tax rate to be approved by three-fourths of all the members of the Texas house.

Texas has three tier one universities, compared to nine in California and seven in New York, placing Texas at a significant educational disadvantage.  HB 51 creates an incentive program to bring more Texas universities to nationally-prominent research status.
